Virtual Net Metering: Solar for Rajpur Road Apartments

Living in an apartment on Rajpur Road usually means no roof rights, and thus, no solar. Virtual Net Metering (VNM) is the software update reality needed.

How it works

  1. A solar farm is built in Vikas Nagar (where land is cheap).
  2. You buy "credits" for 3kW worth of power from that farm.
  3. UPCL deducts that generation from your apartment's bill in Dehradun.

It's remote solar. The policy framework is finally in place. We expect the first commercial VNM projects to open subscriptions by June 2026. Stay tuned.
